I Made a New Thing - and You're Invited! Write Club is officially open

Hi, Reader!

You've found your way to this corner of the internet maybe via a recommendation from someone I work with, or some flavour of Google search involving "Help for ADHD writers", "How to write a book when you can't focus", or "writing with low spoons". This is a space for the gloriously imperfect, the neurodivergent late bloomers, and the ones who dream of escaping to a cabin in the woods with a stack of books and zero notifications.

New: Write Club is Open

I've made a place for us! After a lovely trial back in December, Write Club is officially open. Our first co-writing session is Wednesday 6th January, and if you want to set a shape for your writing year ahead, there's a planning session on Sunday 3rd January.

What, where, how?

Write Club offer co-writing, with like-brained writers, in a private Zoom room. It's hosted by me, a neurodivergent writer. How does it work? You turn up, I hold space, you write. You can find out all about it and sign up over on Substack, where I publish about neurodivergence and creativity. My writing on Whizzy Brain is free, and you get monthly access to Write Club if you sign up as a Paid Subscriber.

So What Happens in Write Club?

It's a weekly quiet online co-writing session, on Wednesdays at 1pm. Cosy, no chatter, just you and your writing project. Setting up a gentle rhythm for the season ahead.
On Sundays, there's an optional planning session at 8pm, to clear your mind and check your schedule, and see when you'll actually be able to focus on your writing. It's the small thing that helps you take action on your writing dreams.

What Doesn't Happen in Write Club?

  • No chatter, it's straight into your writing cocoon.
  • I don't ask about specific goals.
  • Sessions are not recorded
  • There's no pressure or productivity bollocks, no comparison.
  • Nobody checks your work to make sure you hit a target - I know you're your own most demanding critic

Come and join us. I'm so excited about this little gathering - a crucible for good things to come! (But without the fire or trials).

If you have any questions, just reply to this email or come ask on Substack and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Wishing you lots of writing joy in 2026,

Best

Gail

So… are you ready for Christmas? Hi, Reader! If “ready” means the presents are wrapped bought, at least one room of the house is presentable, and the out-of-office is on, then I’m not quite there. If I accept that New Years’ Greetings are just as good as Christmas cards, shop-bought mince pies will do fine this year, and I don’t bank too much on being on the Nice List… then maybe. Yes. Wherever you are on the festive readiness scale, I hope you’re able to find a few moments over the coming...

A Gentle Black Friday Invitation to Write Club Hi, Reader! November seems to disappear in a blink, doesn’t it? One minute you’re lighting a candle and promising yourself a peaceful writing hour, and the next you’re caught in the swirl of end-of-year busyness. If you’ve been wanting to carve out gentle, protected time for your writing, the Write Club December trial is your chance to begin. You can join for £9 and take part in three live lunchtime accountability sessions, where you’ll write...

It’s the Spooky Season for Writers Hi, Reader! I have to say upfront that I love, love, love Halloween, autumn, and all things cosy (except pumpkin spice because it tastes like someone ground up pot pourri and spoiled my coffee) and yes I’m still bitter that it’s not a public holiday in the UK. For me October is the time to hunker down after September’s “new pencil case energy” Get all cosy while writing, drinking hot chocolate and heading into reading hibernation - totally a thing, trust me...
