Ready to Write? Gentle Tips + Bingo Inside

From Sunhat to Story: Gentle Ways & Tools to Jump Back In

Hi, Reader! Summer’s nearly over, back-to-school is looming, and your writing might be hiding under a sunhat somewhere - but fear not!

This month, I’ve been sharing more bingo cards on social media - they're fun, low-pressure prompts to spark creativity, boost motivation, and help you find moments to write (even when it feels impossible).

I’ve also been sharing reels of my favourite writing tools - simple ways to make writing more fun, less fussy, and a lot more doable. Think gold star stickers, tarot cards, Post-it notes, noise-cancelling headphones, and handy digital tools. Perfect for sparking ideas, keeping your thoughts organised, or giving your creativity a gentle nudge when you need it most!

Take a look, and if you’ve missed any of the bingo cards, I’ve included links to them below. Keep an eye on my social media this Monday for the final one in the series.

Find me on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Substack for more gentle writing prompts, behind-the-scenes rambles, and neurodivergent-friendly bookish encouragement.

The Latest Summer Bingo Cards:

Holiday Edition

With spaces like ‘bribe kids for quiet’ and ‘write during play dates’ this could be my favourite yet! Pick some squares and play along.

Family Edition

The perfect boredom-buster for summer holidays - and a lovely way to weave stories into your family’s days.

Fill The Well Edition

Just like a well, your creativity needs topping up - the more joy, wonder, and tiny adventures you pour in, the richer the stories that bubble back out.

No Childcare Edition

Even if you just tick one square and scribble a few words, that’s a win. Every word counts!

Gail Doggett - Writing Mentor and Coach

I've been working with writers for two decades, from acquiring fiction and non-fiction at a major publishing house, all the way to being in 1:1 critique relationships, and accountability partnerships.

I bloody love talking about stories, and characters, ideas and I'm also very aware of what it's like to feel stuck and wanting to bang your head on the desk (please don't do that!).

And for all of us neurodivergent folk, as a late-diagnosed ADHDer myself, I also want to reiterate that there's no shame either in getting stuck or just feeling like you can't get yourself together to do this, even though it's all that you can think about. But I do want you to tell your story.

Get in touch, and let's see what we can do together!

Hi, Reader! You've found your way to this corner of the internet maybe via a recommendation from someone I work with, or some flavour of Google search involving "Help for ADHD writers", "How to write a book when you can't focus", or "writing with low spoons". This is a space for the gloriously imperfect, the neurodivergent late bloomers, and the ones who dream of escaping to a cabin in the woods with a stack of books and zero notifications. New: Write Club is Open I've made a place for us!...

So… are you ready for Christmas? Hi, Reader! If “ready” means the presents are wrapped bought, at least one room of the house is presentable, and the out-of-office is on, then I’m not quite there. If I accept that New Years’ Greetings are just as good as Christmas cards, shop-bought mince pies will do fine this year, and I don’t bank too much on being on the Nice List… then maybe. Yes. Wherever you are on the festive readiness scale, I hope you’re able to find a few moments over the coming...

A Gentle Black Friday Invitation to Write Club Hi, Reader! November seems to disappear in a blink, doesn’t it? One minute you’re lighting a candle and promising yourself a peaceful writing hour, and the next you’re caught in the swirl of end-of-year busyness. If you’ve been wanting to carve out gentle, protected time for your writing, the Write Club December trial is your chance to begin. You can join for £9 and take part in three live lunchtime accountability sessions, where you’ll write...
